Littman: 3M Classic III Monitoring Stethoscope
Everyone knows about Littman! This is my top recommended brand and it’s absolutely safe to say that you cannot go wrong with any of their products. I used to recommend to recommend the 3M Health Care Littman Classic III Stethoscope (which is also just as good as the new 3M Littman Classic III shown above), but is less appealing to most due to design. However, the function is quite the same and less expensive.

MDF Premium Dual Head Stethoscope
MDF Stainless Steel Dual Head Stethoscope is my personal favorite, only because it is visually pleasing. I personally have this in black and rose gold and would not trade it for the world. The quality and function is there, but I would say it is not as good as the 3M Littmann Cardiology. To add to that, the price is not that bad compared to the rest. It is in the market on amazon for $79.99!

3M Littmann Master Cardiology Stethoscope
If you’re not on a budget, you’ll probably end up with this baby for your whole career. The 3M Littmann Master Cardiology Stethoscope is the ultimate investment and is probably worth every single penny. This is a huge upgrade from the 3M Littmann Classic. Not trying to be sarcastic, but you may hear murmurs from the other side of the wall.
With all jokes aside, I do not possess one of these but I’ve had the pleasure of testing it out. Sound quality is much more more cleaner and is able to block out noise from the environment very well. There’s no “cupping” sound and can be quite sensitive. Avoid having the bell hit up against something… the rebound sound can really hurt your ear drums.

Ultrascope Adult Stethoscope
During my nursing school years, almost everyone had their eyes on Ultrascope for a change since everyone had possessed a Littmann. I do not personally own one, but I have sampled a friend’s Ultrascope for the purpose of this article. The quality of sounds is not any different from your basic Littmann. The base of the bell is made up of a unique glass-like acrylic and comes in different colorful designs.
For nursing students, I recommend going with the single Ultrascope, which is on sale for $94.99.
If you decide to upgrade, you can purchase ta Duo Ultrascope, which is on sale for $155.95.
ADC Adscope 603 or 605 with Tunable AFD Technology
Like the Ultrascope, I do not own an ADC adscope. Interestingly, it scored 4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon so I knew I had to add to my list. For more good news, it’s the cheapest stethoscope out of the list!
According to Amazon reviewers, they scored the sound quality a 4.4, light weight a 4.4, and value for money a 4.5 (out of 5 stars). That is incredible for the inexpensive price you’re paying!
The ADC adscope is on sale on Amazon for $36.35.
